Now, the Republican National Committee is suing Google for putting millions of its get-out-the-vote and fundraising emails into spam folders, resulting in significant financial loss to the RNC.
The RNC alleges that Google’s decision to sort its emails into spam is politically motivated, particularly because Google chose to sort the RNC’s emails into spam towards the end of the month when party officials claim their fundraising efforts are most successful.
Google has countered by claiming that it does not consider political affiliation when sorting emails in to spam folders.
Congressional Republicans cited a study claiming that Google sorts 70 percent of Republican fundraising emails in to spam, compared to only 8 percent of Democratic fundraising emails.
