(The Messenger) An anchor on a right-wing Israeli TV channel has been pictured with a handgun strapped in her waistband during her newscast.

The image underscores how Israelis have increasingly been taking up arms in the months since Hamas’ Oct. 7 massacre.

Lital Shemesh, a presenter for Israel’s Arutz 14 (Channel 14), is pictured in the photo sitting behind the anchor desk, with the pistol tucked behind her back.

Behind the firearm are microphone receivers used for lavalier microphones, the clip-on mics often used by television reporters.

Shemesh, who is also a reservist for the Israel Defense Forces, has been outspoken about Israel’s need to defeat Hamas, telling Fox News in October the surprise attack that left some 1,200 dead was a “second holocaust for us.”

Shemesh has since urged her fellow Israelis to pick up arms for their self defense.

In a Dec. 28 post on X, Shemesh uploaded a photo of herself using a handgun at a firing range with the caption: “Go arm yourself.”
