(BPR) The Biden administration quietly muzzled Tucker Carlson, banning him from conducting an interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to the former Fox News host, but Carlson wants Americans to know the truth about how he’s being censored.
The claim that the federal government actively prevented Carlson from doing the interview with Putin was revealed in an article that the Swiss magazine Die Weltwoche published. He did not specify when he was told he could not do the interview, but Carlson made the claim as an example of what he views as an attempt to “subvert a democracy” by controlling the media.
“I tried to interview Vladimir Putin, and the U.S. government stopped me,” he stated in the article that was published on Thursday. “By the way, nobody defended me. I don’t think there was anybody in the news media who said, ‘Wait a second. I may not like this guy, but he has a right to interview anyone he wants, and we have a right to hear what Putin says.’”

“I’m an American citizen. I’m a much more loyal American than, say, Joe Biden or Kamala Harris, who didn’t even grow up in this country; she grew up in Canada. And they’re telling me what it is to be a loyal American? I’m just not even interested, at this point. I don’t even care. When David Frum [a staff writer for The Atlantic magazine] from Canada gets to tell me that I’m a disloyal American, it’s a joke. It’s a joke. And I don’t care what they think, actually, anymore. And I don’t have to care. So, I don’t,” the conservative pundit bluntly noted.
Carlson did not specify which arm of the federal government forbade him from doing the interview, according to Newsweek.
“Kremlin propagandist Margarita Simonyan said in August that Carlson requested to interview Putin, but his recent comments mark the first time he has publicly acknowledged making such a request,” the media outlet noted.
When Carlson was asked why he felt the state of the media was “so miserable” in the Die Weltwoche interview, he replied “If you want to subvert a democracy, you need to control the information that citizens receive. I’d argue that the news media in democracies is far less trustworthy than it is in other countries simply because it matters more in a democracy. People vote on the basis of the information they have. So, if you want to control their votes, you have to control what they know.”

“There has been a very aggressive attempt, over a number of decades on the part of the people who run the United States, to control what’s available on our news stations and in our newspapers — to control the news media. And they have,” he asserted.
Die Weltwoche also reported, “Carlson is far less kind about his colleagues in the press. ‘They’re all fearful people,’ the 54-year-old scoffs. Instead of holding the powerful to account, ‘they do exactly the opposite.’ Indeed, ‘they do their bidding,’”
The conservative firebrand went on to tell the Swiss outlet, “They’re trying to put Trump in prison for the crime of running against Joe Biden … That’s what this election’s about. Are we going to allow that, or aren’t we? And I just don’t think we can.”
