The co-founder of the Lincoln Project is doubling down on the group’s failed attempt on Friday to smear Virginia gubernatorial candidate Glenn Youngkin.
On Friday, the Lincoln Project claimed responsibility for a political stunt that saw five members of the VA Democrats posing as members of the “alt-right” with tiki torches in front of a Youngkin tour bus, the Post Millennial reported.
The organization claims that it organized a group of five people posing as white supremacists to stand outside Youngkin’s tour bus at an event in Charlottesville, the site of the “Unite the Right” rally in 2017, which saw clashes between self-described members of the “alt-right” and white nationalist groups against their opponents.
Speaking to Chris Cuomo on late Friday, Lincoln Project co-founder Stuart Stevens told Chris Cuomo that he had no intention of apologizing for the effort, which caused a firestorm of controversy on social media – ultimately backfiring on the VA Democrats and the Lincoln Project.
