(DailyWire) Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich blasted the Biden Administration on a Wednesday Fox News appearance over the Department of Justice (DOJ) bid to block a state law requiring proof of citizenship to vote in presidential elections.
Brnovich, who is running for the GOP nomination for Senate, said states like Arizona must constantly battle federal overreach under Biden, whether it’s over vaccine mandates, COVID relief bills, or the border crisis.
“Now the Biden administration is suing our state just because we have a requirement that if you want to vote in a presidential election or if you want to vote by mail, you have to show proof of citizenship,” he told “Faulkner Focus” host Harris Faulkner.
Brnovich said the move by the DOJ was the “height of absurdity” coming from the Biden Administration.
“The Biden administration has incentivized and decriminalized people coming into this country illegally, and now they don’t want Arizona to check for citizenship,” Brnovich said. “You don’t need to be a rocket scientist or even an astronaut to figure out what’s going on here with the Biden administration.”
On Tuesday, the DOJ announced it’s suing the State of Arizona over a law Governor Doug Ducey signed earlier this year which the feds called “redundant and unconstitutional.”
Authorities said the law “turns the clock back on progress by imposing unlawful and unnecessary requirements that would block eligible voters from the registration rolls for certain federal elections.”
Ducey said the bill brings a balanced approach that honors the state’s voting accessibility history without sacrificing election security.
