From ABC.net.au…
I have a confession to make: When I’m cooking rice on the stove, I can’t help repeatedly lifting the lid to see how it’s going.
When I mentioned this in a group chat recently, I was met with a few appalled emojis. Apparently, lifting the lid to peek at the rice, and sometimes giving it a stir, too, are controversial moves (almost as divisive as washing your rice before cooking).
So, I asked chef Soon Lee Low, based in Melbourne, to weigh-in on the great rice-stirring debate. He also gave the down-low on five other common rice-cooking mistakes people make (and it turns out I’m a repeat offender.)
