Moderna is conducting a human trial on a Covid-19 booster vaccine.
Moderna said late Wednesday that it had dosed the first subject in what appears to be the first human trial of a Covid-19 booster vaccine designed to target a specific variant of the virus.
The small trial extends an earlier Phase 2 study, and involves 60 subjects who have already received two doses of the Moderna (ticker: MRNA) Covid-19 vaccine. The subjects will either receive a booster designed to protect against the South African variant of the virus, or a multivalent vaccine that combines the original vaccine with the new booster.
