(Daily Mail) The year is 2100, and humans live in underground cities and rely on AI mentors to make decisions.

While the scenario sounds like a plot of a science-fiction film, it could be our reality, experts told DailyMail.com.

Ed Johnson, CEO and Co-Founder of PushFar, said, ‘In 2100, our lives are not just entwined with technology; they are guided, shaped, and mentored by it.

How will technology change the world of the future?

Below are five things that will happen by this century’s mid-point – good and evil.

‘Digital humans’ will live among us

Humans and humanoids will walk the streets together as friends and equals

Humanoid robots and ‘digital friends’ will live alongside people, with robots taking on tasks including surgery and simply keeping people company.

Rob Sims, co-founder and CEO of Sum Vivas, said: ‘Technology will have developed to fully support digital humans without the need for instruction, educators or supporters, and companions (digital friends) will be part of everyday life.

AI-enabled digital humans and robotic humanoids will be part of everyday life; they will take on various tasks, ranging from the mundane – taking the rubbish out or washing- to the complex, such as high-level education or intricate brain surgery.

‘Society will need to develop in line with technological advancements to ensure we don’t become an insular and self-facing race.’

AI ‘mentors’ will decide what everyone does, including their jobs

In the future, AI ‘mentors’ will accompany every person, making decisions for them, including which job to do, said Ed Johnson, CEO and Co-Founder of PushFar.

‘Gone are the days of agonizing over choices big and small,’ Johnson continued.

‘The AI mentors of 2100 leverage the power of quantum computing, processing infinite possibilities in the blink of an eye.

‘Ask them a question, and they don’t just predict outcomes; they analyze potential paths, probabilities, and consequences, offering guidance grounded in the vast realm of data that defines our interconnected world.

‘You no longer have to weigh up which job to take; your AI mentor will do the work for you, leaving you with all the information you need to make the final decision.

‘Fasten your seatbelts, for the future is not just about technology; it’s about the profound synergy between the human spirit and the silicon soul.’

Cities will move underground

By 2100, space above ground will be at a premium, so much city infrastructure will move underground, with tunnels dug by robots

Robots will dig tunnels, with surveyors using augmented reality to map new living spaces and buildings underground, said robotics firm HyperTunnel, which is pioneering new tunnel-making technologies.

Steve Jordan of HyperTunnel, said, ‘Millions of robots no more than a mile long will swarm in the same way that nature developed over billions of years.

‘Digital pheromones produced by a central digital twin harnessing emerging AI will enable the behavior.

Now, we have the technology to change the planet with new infrastructure for utilities, transport and energy, delivering future megacities.

Plans for underground buildings are already being made, with Mexico City’s Earthscraper, a 65-story inverted pyramid inspired by Aztec pyramids, planned to help ease concerns over space in the city center.

Designed by BNKR Arquitectura, such designs could become more common in a crowded world ravaged by rising temperatures.
