The AP praised Texas Democrat lawmakers who have been living out of their Washington, DC, hotel rooms since fleeing their home state on Monday to avoid a vote in the state’s House.
The AP wrote that they are “living a life of stress and scrutiny.” In 2019, the publication said Oregon lawmakers “ground the Legislature to a halt” after they walked out to protest a climate bill in that state.
These Texas Democrats are the same lawmakers who have been posting images of their dirty laundry hanging up in hotel bathrooms and taking selfies all over Washington. They even performed a toe-curling rendition of “We Shall Overcome” in front of the Capitol, as though the expansion of early voting and the requirement of free, voter ID, is somehow discriminatory.
Donna Howard was one of the 60 Dems who is currently being housed in a $200/night hotel. Not only does the hotel undoubtedly have a laundry service, Washington, DC, has loads of laundromats.
