(PM.) Ukrainian President Voldymyr Zelensky will meet with former President and GOPpresidential nominee Donald Trump on Friday morning at Trump Tower in New York City. Trump made the announcement during a press conference he gave in his home town NYC on Thursday afternoon.
“President Zelensky has asked to meet with me,” Trump said, “and I will be meeting with him at around 9:45 in Trump Tower. And it’s a shame what’s happening in Ukraine, so many deaths, so much destruction, it’s a horrible thing.”

Trump has said repeatedly that if he’s elected he intends to bring the war between Ukraine and Russia to a close within 24 hours. His intention is to do this by negotiating with the two leaders. His Democrat rival Kamala Harris has backed further munitions and weapons aid to Ukraine, as has President Joe Biden, who on Thursday morning announced plans to send another $8 billion in weapons to the embattled nation.
Zelensky has been in the US meeting with the Biden-Harris administration. He also took a tour of a munitions factory in Scranton, PA, which has been manufacturing ammunition to send to Ukraine. Kamala Harris and Zelensky met and held a joint address on Thursday afternoon.
In her remarks, Harris said “The United States supports Ukraine, not out of charity, but because it is in our strategic interest, we will continue to provide the security assistance.”
