(Not The Bee) The Associated Press (AP) told journalists last Tuesday to “not use the term late-term abortion,” but to instead, “use the term abortion later in the pregnancy” or “abortions after XX weeks,” according to its updated Stylebook guidelines.
Instead, use the term “abortion later in pregnancy” if a general term is needed, but be aware that there are varying definitions of the time period involved. Be specific when possible.

AP’s “Abortion Topical Guide” also tells journalists to avoid using the terms “heartbeat bill and abortion ban “on their own without explanation.”
