Twitter officials met on Monday with the US Surgeon General’s Office in order to have a discussion on how to suppress information that goes against the official narrative on topics such as vaccination.
“We agree with the Surgeon General – tackling health misinformation takes a whole-of-society approach. We continue to work in close consultation with global public health authorities, public health experts, and elected officials to help people find authoritative, public health information about COVID-19. We welcome the Surgeon General’s leadership and partnership in this work,” said a spokesperson for the Big Tech giant on Monday, purportedly after the meeting.
According to The Verge, Facebook and YouTube have not responded to requests, and as such, it’s not known whether they undertook similar meetings for similar purposes.
