(PM.) New York City held their 31st annual “Dyke March” on Saturday, which garnered national attention after hundreds of women danced topless in front of children in Washington Square Park. This was part of a protest for “bodily autonomy” and against the “attack on trans rights.”
Organizers of the “Dyke March” shared that this event was not a parade, but a “protest” to “highlight the presence of Dykes within our community, and in protest of the discrimination, harassment, and violence we face in schools, on the job, and in our communities,” per their website.
A women’s rights activist, known on Twitter as “Stop Female Erasure / K Yang,” was attacked during the event after holding up a sing that read: “Defend female sex based rights.”
Footage was posted to Twitter that showed Yang holding up a sign that was critical of common phrases used to be “gender neutral” towards biological women. It criticized phrases such as “pregnant person,” “cis-woman,” and “uterus haver.”

The protest drew thousands of men and women who identified themselves as trans, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming who marched with signs reading, “Not your f*cking body, not your f*cking business,” while they passed around inflatables shaped as “women’s clitorises” per the people who brought them.
The march ended in Washington Square Park, and many of the women began stripping off their clothes to dance in the water at the iconic Washington Square Fountain. Many children present also joined in. In one clip, a young girl runs to her topless mother as two other topless women kiss nearby.
