(PM.) Democrat Representatives Eric Swalwell and Pramila Jayapal in an interview released Friday shared their fears of living in a “QAnon reality” where their possibly-armed Republican colleagues could become “violent” in the workplace.
Speaking with left-wing outlet Raw Story, Swalwell called his fellow lawmakers of the opposing party “unstable,” and shared his worries of being a victim of a “workplace violent event.”
“A lot of my Republican colleagues glorify violence and proudly display the firearms they have in their offices, so it just makes me nervous that we could have a workplace violent event. They’re not the most stable people,” he said.
Since Republicans took back the House, the magnetometer weapon detection devices put in place by former Speaker Nancy Pelosi following the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot have been uninstalled.
According to Swalwell, this is a “recipe for disaster. Michigan Rep. Dan Kildee also told the outlet that it’s a “frightening group of people over there.”
Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert celebrated the detectors’ removal, striking fear in Jayapal.
“I think they should be removed from the Capitol, filled with Tannerite and blown up,” Boebert told The New York Post moments before the devices were removed on Tuesday.
