Republicans Pushing Trump To Debate Kamala Harris Again In October

(Just The News) Some prominent Republicans are pushing former President Donald Trump to debate Vice President Kamala Harris for a second time next month, after he debated the Democratic nominee on Tuesday night.

Harris’s campaign has called for a second debate against Trump to occur closer to the presidential election, urging the Trump campaign to agree to a debate in October. Trump has rejected the calls so far, claiming he “won” the previous debate. Trump previously stated that he would like three debates against Harris.

Trump’s allies largely claim the former president did well on Tuesday night, but said the more chances he has to debate Harris, the better.

“Any time we get a chance to put President Trump in front of voters to talk about his vision, we think that improves his prospect of success,” Florida GOP Rep. Matt Gaetz, who was on Trump’s debate preparation team, told reporters after the performance.

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Whatley echoed Gaetz’s reaction, stating the RNC would be “very interested” in having a conversation about a second match up with Harris, according to the Washington Examiner.

Former Republican presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy, a strong supporter of Trump, said another debate would be “good for the country.”

Not all Republicans however believed that the debate was a win for the former commander-in-chief. South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham claimed Trump was unprepared for the debate, and called for his prep team to be fired.
