Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) said he would not support Biden nominee Dr. Robert Califf to lead the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
This marks the second time Manchin has opposed Califf’s nomination, the first coming when former President Barack Obama nominated him in 2016.
Manchin has pinned some of the blame on Dr. Califf for the more than 400,000 opioid overdose deaths of Americans, including some 5,000 in his home state of West Virginia.
