Cosmetic Surgeon Says These Are The Three Procedures He Would Never Do

Daily Mail

(Daily Mail) A dermatologist has revealed the three cosmetic procedures he would never do because they are costly and largely ineffective.

Dr. Peter Malouf, 54, from Dallas, Texas, has more than 20,000 followers on TikTok, where he shares videos about cosmetic surgery, including before-and-after photos.

The cosmetic surgeon, who uses the handle @drcosderm, went viral this month when he opened up about the procedures he is firmly against.

Dr. Malouf kicked off his video by saying he would never get Kybella, an injectable that ‘promises to melt fat.’

‘Kybella has been one of the worst products in the last several years, in my opinion, due to the fact that it is damaging to the tissues beneath the skin, has a high index of pain, is very costly, and minimally effective,’ he explained.

One Kybella injection costs between $1,200 and $1,800, and multiple treatments might be needed for optimal results, according to HealthLine.

Dr. Malouf shared that he is also not a fan of Sculptra, an injectable dermal filler used to reduce wrinkles in the skin.

‘Sculptra was a product that was brought out many years ago,’ he said. ‘The company has changed hands, and the promises of it as a filler have fallen through.’

He noted that he doesn’t like the product because its predictability and cost-effectiveness are ‘very low,’ but he added that ‘it is safe.’

The cost of Sculptra injections varies from state to state, but the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery reported in 2016 that the average price per treatment was $923.

Dr. Malouf said the final procedure he would not get is Morpheus8, a device that combines microneedling and radiofrequency to smooth, firm, and reshape the skin.

Kim Kardashian, Victoria Beckham, and Bella Thorne are all fans of the pricey laser treatment.
