(PM.) Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) has agreed to plead guilty to pulling the fire alarm on Capitol Hill earlier this month after reaching an agreement with the D.C. attorney general on Wednesday that involves having all charges in the case dropped.

The attorney general agreed to drop all charges in three months as long as Bowman issues a formal apology and pays a $1000 fine, according to Axios.

In a statement following the agreement, Bowman issued an admission of guilt and said: “I am responsible for activating a fire alarm, I will be paying the fine issued, and look forward to these charges being ultimately dropped.
On Wednesday, Rep. Bowman was ordered to appear before the Superior Court of the District of Columbia on Thursday after he pulled a fire alarm to delay congressional proceedings in the Cannon building earlier this month.

The judicial summons document states that Bowman had been charged with False Fire Alarm, a misdemeanor charge in the District of Columbia with a punishment of up to six months in prison, a fine, or both. Bowman had been ordered to appear before the court’s criminal division before the agreement had been solidified.

Gabriel Shoglow-Rubenstein, a spokesperson for the D.C. attorney general’s office, confirmed the plea agreement and said: “He is pleading guilty and has agreed to pay the maximum fine,” according to Axios.
