New Mexico DA To File New Manslaughter Charges Against Alec Baldwin In ‘Rust’ Shooting

(CNY Central) Actor and producer Alec Baldwin, who fatally shot a cinematographer on the set of the movie “Rust” in 2021, will be charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter, prosecutors said Thursday morning.

Prosecutors said weapons specialist Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who supervised weapons on the set, will also face the same charges.

 

The shooting claimed the life of Halyna Hutchins and injured Joel Souza, a director, during a rehearsal for the film at a ranch on the outskirts of Santa Fe, New Mexico on Oct. 21, 2021. Hutchins died shortly after she was shot.

Baldwin has said he did not know the gun he fired on the set was loaded with a live round.
